Importing LED lights & lamps from China into the EU
LED lights are not a simple product to regulate. As the importer you take on manufacturer responsibility: electrical safety, EMC, substance restrictions, energy efficiency and — for integrated LEDs — photobiological safety.
Applicable frameworks
LVD 2014/35 · EMC 2014/30 · RoHS 2011/65 · REACH · Ecodesign SLR (EU) 2019/2020 · Energy label (EU) 2019/2015 (+ EPREL) · GPSR 2023/988 · WEEE · RED (smart only).
Distinction: the luminaire energy label was removed on 25 Dec 2019 — only light sources need a label + EPREL.
Concrete standards
| Area | Standards |
|---|---|
| Electrical safety | EN 60598-1 · EN 62560 · EN 61347-2-13 (driver) |
| Photobiological safety | EN 62471 / EN 62778 (blue light, RG0–RG3) |
| EMC | EN 55015 · EN 61547 · EN 61000-3-2 |
| Energy | SLR (EU) 2019/2020 · energy label + EPREL |
- EU Declaration of Conformity + documentation naming the model + standards — not a generic Chinese CE certificate.
- Test reports for LVD, EMC and photobiological safety (RG0/RG1).
- RoHS + REACH/SVHC.
- Light source registered in EPREL + SLR limits?
- If radio: RED evidence incl. cybersecurity (since 01 Aug 2025).
Evidence gaps by resolver
Greenlist shows you the relevant test paths, the open evidence gaps and the questions for your supplier — per SKU, before the PO. Greenlist drafts the document-solvable evidence (declaration of conformity, RoHS DoC, listing block) and tells you where accredited lab testing is required.
